APP/SBS Modified Bitumen is classified as a polymer modified bituminous membrane. The membrane is manufactured by building up a modified asphalt bitumen over a reinforcement scrim. The scrim reinforcement, as well as the polymer used to modify the bitumen, varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and from product to product. Modified bitumen has been used in roofing applications since the mid 1960s.
